We have engaged a terrific list of teachers to teach a wide variety of topics.  We generally limit our classes to a maximum of six students to ensure personalized services.  Some sewing classes will be taught by visiting teachers who will bring all-new techniques and/or skills to our students.

Further, we provide new Bernina sewing machines for use before, during and after our sewing classes for enrolled students.  This keeps our students from having to “lug” their own sewing machines from and back to their homes.  It also assures that the sewing classes will not be disrupted because a student forgot a critical component of their machine or that it does not function properly. 

Our classroom includes a really cool device that our students and customers are welcome to use, at no charge, to photograph their projects.  It is a studio-like setting, with great lighting and plenty of space to hang large quilts. 

We also have invested in technology which will allow us to offer Webinars.  We can project teachers’ classes, brought to our classroom via the internet, onto a big screen.  Speaker phones are used for the audio portion of the presentations, allowing an interactive learning environment for our students.  Ever attend a sewing class being taught by someone thousands of miles away?  You can now.

Class Policy

• Class fee is due at the time you register. If you must cancel, we must be notified 1 week prior to class date. NO EXCEPTIONS.
• If the class does not fill or if we cancel the class, you will receive a full refund or store credit, your choice.
• Supplies are needed for almost all classes. The class fee covers instruction only. You are responsible for picking up your supply list and having all your supplies ready prior to the beginning of class.
• Copyright law requires that each student purchases his or her own book or pattern required for the class.

GETTING TO KNOW YOUR COMPUTER AND SOFTWARE
1 session - Tuesday, April 6, 9:00am to 10:30am
Cost: $10

For the beginner, beginner – if you only know how to turn on your computer – THIS CLASS IS FOR YOU!  We will discover the filing system on computers and how to use it to file away our designs and then find them again! Bring your laptop, software and dongle!

MID-LEVEL SOFTWARE CLASS
2 sessions - Either Tuesday, April 13 9:00am to 10:30am OR Tuesday, April 13 1:00pm to 2:30pm
Cost: $10

 – You guessed it – for the embroiderer who is gradually becoming a software diva! We will take several designs, combine them, delete part of them, change colors, color sequence them and anything else we can think of to make a design uniquely yours.

BEGINNING SOFTWARE CLASS
2 sessions - Either Wednesday, April 7, 9:00 to 10:30am OR Wednesday, April 7, 1:00pm to 2:30pm

For the beginner – how to open designs, merge designs, size designs, import designs from a USB stick or CD. Learn to make your Bernina software work for you! Bring your laptop with software loaded already and your dongle!

Couture Sewing – Finishing Seams
3 sessions - Monday, April 12, 10:00am to 2:00pm AND Monday, April 16, 10:00am to 2:00pm AND Monday, May 17, 10:00am to 2:00pm

For the fashionista who desires the inside to look as great as the outside. Come and learn the techniques to finish seams that you will use for a lifetime. You will go home with a book of finished samples that you can refer later.

EMBROIDERY MAKE IT AND TAKE IT CLUB (EMTC)
1 session - Friday, April 16 9:00am to 1:00pm  
Cost: Free, Supplies extra depending upon monthly project

Super-Suzette and Super-Lahm will be hosting a monthly Embroidery Make It and Take It Club that will encompass all the things you have learned about your software and your machine. In this Club we will design, edit, digitize, file, save and stitch out a design onto a premade item such as bibs, coasters, aprons, table runners, etc. At the end of EMTC you will have a finished project to take home. A supply list and supplies will be available at Sew In Heaven prior to EMTC. EMTC will meet on the 3rd Friday of every month. Be prepared to work hard and work fast!

Monogram Bag with Zipper 1 session  - Saturday, April 17, 10:00am to 4:00pm Cost: $25 Teacher: Susan                                    This bag is great for short trips. It is lightweight and washable. It also makes a great gift!

Four Patch Stack N Whack                   
1 session  - Tuesday, April 20, 10:00am to 2:00pm

Take a beautiful piece of fabric and turn it into a masterpiece just by the way you cut it. This is an exciting project to make!

Jelly Roll Footstool                           1 session - Either Wednesday, April 21, 10:00am to 3:00pm OR Saturday, May 15, 10:00am to 3:00pm   Cost: $35 Teacher: Barbara                                This is the cutest little footstool around. It is charming and easy to make! Stop by the store to see the sample.

Travel/Home Sewing Caddy/Organizer 1 session -  Thursday, April 22,  Noon to 4:00pm   Cost: $20 Teacher: Susan                                    This unique little caddy folds up for travel and portability and lays over a sofa arm to use at home. There even are safety features for use around children and curious kittens: you can lock in your scissors or hang when using them, there is a fold up pin and needle holder and you can lock your spools of thread in place. Other great features include a portable pin cushion, 3-pocket tool holder and an elastic pocket for “stuff”. There is even a removable bag for trash, snips and scraps!

Parker Purse     1 session - Saturday, April 24, 10:00am to 4:00pm Cost: $25 Teacher: Susan                                    The designer herself will teach you how to make this delightful purse. It is small enough to be out of your way but big enough to hold just what you need!

Quilting I                                                          2 sessions - Tuesday, April 27, 10:00am to 2:00pm AND Tuesday, May 4, 10:00am to 2:00pm   Cost: $25 Teacher: Joyce                                    Turn a jelly roll into a masterpiece! This class is for the beginner or a refresher for those who haven’t quilted lately. Learn about rotary cutting and piecing as you create a stunning scrappy look quilt. We’ll talk tricks-of-the-trade and have you on your way to more and more beautiful quilts!

Appliqué Table Topper
2   Sessions - Monday, May 3, 10:00am to Noon AND Monday, May 24, 10:00am to Noon

Come and learn needle-turn appliqué while making a nice table topper. Katy will teach you the basics of needle-turn appliqué using two techniques, back basting and/or needle-turn; whichever you choose to do. This class will teach you placement of pattern, reverse appliqué and how to make a perfect circle.

Butterfly PaintStiks Wallhanging            1 session - Wednesday, May 5, 10:00am to 3:00pm Cost: $35 Teacher: Suzanne                                Learn this great new technique using paintstiks to color your world! This technique will have you coming back for more! Stop in the store to see the sample.

Needle Punch Scarf 1 session - Saturday, May 8, 10:00am to 2:00pm    Cost: $25 Teacher: Suzanne                                Here is an opportunity to learn needle punch techniques and be prepared for next winter. The greatest thing about needle punch is that there are many different ways to use it to embellish your projects.

Quilting III 1 session  - Wednesday, May 12, 10:00am to 1:00pm Cost: $15 Teacher: Joyce                                    Looking for something a little different, a little challenging and a LOT of fun? We’ve got it for you in a beginning Bargello class. When you’re done you will have learned to create strip sets, slice and dice them and arrange the values using a number chart for flawless results while creating a beautiful table runner. Prerequisite: confidence with rotary cutting and your machine skills.

Beginning Smocking 3 sessions  -  Friday, May 14, 10:00am to 12:00pm AND Friday, May 21, 10:00am to 12:00pm AND Friday, May 28, 10:00am to 12:00pm  Cost: $30 Teacher: Suzie                         Have you ever wanted to learn how to smock? This is the class for you. Suzie will teach you all the basics on how to make wonderful smocked garments. Stop by the store and see the great samples!

Ready for another easy and stunning quilt? This time we’re using a layer cake and making diamonds – a girl’s best friend!

Double Wedding Ring 1 session - Tuesday, May 25, 10:00am to 1:00pm Cost: $15 Teacher: Joyce                                    The quilt you always admired but never felt confident to tackle. We’re going to make a Touchdown with this one! Prerequisite: confidence with rotary cutting and your machine skills.

Free-motion Pillow 1 session  -  Wednesday, June 30, 10:00am to 3:00pm Cost: $35 Teacher: Suzanne                                Learn how to free-motion quilt this great pillow and open your world to free-motion! If you have a BERNINA stitch regulator and want to learn to use it, bring it. If you don’t have one, bring your #9 foot and you will learn how to free-motion quilt with it!

THE YARN CORNER

Beginning Knitting               2 sessions - Monday, April 19, 1:00pm to 3:00pm AND Monday, May 10, 1:00pm to 3:00pm     Cost: $25 Teacher: Katy                                                                          This class is for beginning knitters and for those of you who want to refresh you basic knitting skills. You will be knitting three dish cloths learning how to cast on, knit, purl, bind off and weaving in your loose yarn ends.

Socks 101  2  sessions - Monday, May 3, 1:00pm to 3:00pm AND Monday, May 24, 1:00pm to 3:00pm Cost: $25 Teacher: Katy                                                             If you’ve never knitted a pair of socks but always wanted to, this class is for you. Come and join us as we learn how to knit on double point needles to make a pair of socks. Basic knitting skills required.

Socks – 2nd Quarterly – Peace Sock                        2 sessions - Thursday, April 29, 10:00am to Noon AND Thursday, May 13,  10:00am to Noon Cost: $25 Teacher: Twyla                                    This time you will learn the toe up method of knitting socks using the magical loop method.  Ok – this is just too much fun.  Dazzle your friends with your creative knitting.  You must have completed one pair of socks before taking this class.  No homework before the first lesson.

Entrelac Hat        2 sessions - Thursday: April 29, 1:00pm to 3:00pm AND Thursday, May 6, 1:00pm to 3:00pm   Cost: $25 Teacher:Twyla                         We know it’s spring, but this hat continues to amaze people, so we will teach it again.  Entrelac is a knitting technique.  You must have basic knitting knowledge.  It’s not hard once you catch onto the method.  There is homework before the class starts, so please allow time for that.

Spring Wrap 2 sessions - Thursday, May 20, 10:00am to Noon AND Thursday, May 27, 10:00am to Noon   Cost: $25 Teacher: Twyla                                    Imagine a cool evening sitting outside, a little spring wrap would be so nice to have over your shoulders.  This is a yarn over extravaganza project – a fun and fast knit!

Road Scarf    2   Sessions - Monday, April 19 10:00am to Noon AND Monday, May 10 10:00am to Noon Cost: $25 Teacher: Katy                                      This scarf is the next step from beginning knitting. Since you have mastered the basics, you will lean how to read a pattern, 4 new stitch patterns, and adding yarn. You will gain confidence in your knitting and this scarf makes a great gift for yourself or a loved one.

Scarf – 2nd Quarter - Hidden Squares 2 sessions - Thursday, May 20 1:00pm to 3:00pm AND Thursday, May 27, 1:00pm to 3:00pm  Cost: $25 Teacher: Twyla                                    Knit small motifs to create this intriguing scarf.  Make it as long or short as you want.  This is a great traveling piece.  We’ll use one of our favorite yarns from JoJoLand to create this unique scarf.
